STUDIO POLICY
Registration & Tuition
Tuition: $100/month
Annual Supply-Fee: $100/year - The annual supply fee helps cover the cost of a guitar strap, student shirt, performance, prizes, and other class supplies over the course of the year.
Class Expectations
Students are expected to practice at least 20-30 minutes a day, 5 days a week their first year of guitar. I recommend setting a schedule/daily alarm and creating a distraction free practice environment at home.
Students will receive a guitar strap and team shirt as a part of their supply fee. Guitar straps are color coded based on level and students can earn achievement badges (sold separately) that are easy to pin to these particular guitar straps. Similar to a martial artist’s uniform, the shirt and strap is our uniform. Please send students to class with their guitar strap and team shirt.
Students will need a mobile electronic device to run their music practice apps. Phones are okay, however tablets with bigger screens are best as we will be reading sheet music on them. Please visit www.superguitarteams.com/guides for download links and setup instructions.
Students are expected to arrive on-time to their reserved class time, with an electronic device and instrument in good working condition. I can replace broken guitar strings here.
Missing Class
Similar to college, class cannot be paused, canceled or credited, and will continue regardless if a student can make it each week.
Should you need to miss class for an extended period of time, please consider staying enrolled and refer to our ‘Cancellation of Service’ for guidance.
Cancellation of Service
We ask for a 30 days notice of discontinuation from the program. Please note, Super Guitar Teams students are organized by level and graduate their level after meeting graduation requirements. Should a student leave during the semester and want to return to class, the student will likely need to retake their current level in order to advance to the next level or require private tutoring with me to catch up. We recommend busy or vacationing students to stay enrolled and purchase online private tutoring as needed from our store page www.superguitarteams.com/store
Calendar
GUITAR 1:
FALL SEASON, *September 2024 - May 2025 (Lessons will take break for the summer)
WINTER SEASON, January 2025 - July 2025 (Lessons will break for the month of August.)
Calendar Explained:
Typically, we have about 4 lessons each month. Unfortunately, uneven months, holidays, and recreation/store closures complicate the calendar. To simplify this, I’ve done this math for the whole year:
Fall League: 4 lessons per month x 9 months = 36 total lessons.
Winter League: 4 lessons per month x 7 months = 28 total lessons.
Though some months like December will be short, these missed lesson days will be made up by longer months over the course of the year. This means that tuition will always be $100 per month - even if there are 2 lessons in a month - and greatly simplifies billing. I’m happy to explain this in person if it doesn’t make sense.
Background Checks
All Super Guitar Teams teaching staff are background checked with the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification.
Drop-off and Pickup Instructions
Super Guitar Teams, store and recreation staff have responsibilities to the operation of their respective business, making it impossible for staff to know the whereabouts of all students at all times. We strongly recommend that underage students wait inside the lobby where they can be observed by staff, while waiting for a parent/guardian to pick them up. Please establish a pickup plan with your child. It should be noted that, though students are welcome to wait inside for pickup during regular operating hours, staff cannot stay and wait with your child after operating hours.
Bullying/Class disruptions
Super Guitar Teams reserves the right to refuse service. Students and/or parents causing frequent class disturbances, or students found bullying other students, may be grounds for expulsion from the program.
Songs and Censorship
To give our students a proper guitar education, there are key songs important to the study of the guitar. Our intention is to extract the guitar's educational value from a chosen song, not the lyrical content or any kind of derived meaning.
We recognize that every family is different regarding censorship. Super Guitar Teams will make every effort to give censored versions of these songs and will not be held responsible for students found listening to uncensored content or material outside their syllabus. Please be mindful of what your child is listening to or watching when practicing, and talk to them about any kind of message in a song you may be concerned about.
Homework and Practice
Homework with Super Guitar Teams is different from traditional teacher assigned homework. The Super Guitar Teams experience is similar to a team sport. As such, it is student driven/teacher assisted, which means students decide which tasks they will work on as a team and which tasks they will pursue individually. While our teachers encourage and challenge our students, student achievement is ultimately up to the students and must be so to keep the experience fair. However, every student will receive the necessary materials and guidance to make informed decisions.
End of Year Performance
Super Guitar Teams performances typically have all classes come together at the end of the year to play together as one large ensemble. There may be opportunities for solo pieces, however ensemble performance is core to the Super Guitar Teams experience. Family members and friends are welcome to attend and watch these events. Performing in this recital with their teammates is the end goal for each student, so regular practice at home is very important so they’re prepared for this.
Regarding the end-of-year performance, details TBA. We expect to perform sometime during the last week of the season, however the specific time and day will be decided as we get closer.
